Dr. Kurt L. Nelson is a board-certified physician in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He practices comprehensive otolaryngology, treating a wide variety of ear, nose, and throat disorders in both the adult and pediatric population with a special interest in thyroid and parathyroid disorders.
Dr. Nelson completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Mississippi in 2009 graduating Summa Cum Laude and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi honor society. He received the Fletcher F. Veazey award for Excellence in Secondary Science Education as well as the Miller-Pittman Pre-Medical Scholarship. He went on to obtain his medical degree at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 2013, graduating Cum Laude. He completed his residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2018 where he received the Excellence in Otolaryngology Research Award for his work in post-operative management of thyroid and parathyroid surgery and has several publications in textbooks and peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Nelson is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. He currently serves as the treasurer of the Mississippi Society of Otolaryngology.
He is happily married to Emily Nelson, a native of Tupelo. They have one son and a daughter. He enjoys golf, sports in general, and most of all spending time with his family. Dr. Nelson and his family are active parishioners of St. James Catholic Church in Tupelo.
